We work alongside your maintenance contractor

As a solar O&M cleaning partner, we add soiling engineering, chemistry and crew training to the O&M contract you already have. Your contractor keeps the contract, the crews and the site, and can simply order Chemitek products from us if that is all it needs.

Why add a specialist

An O&M contractor runs the whole plant: inverters, trackers, vegetation, security and reporting. In most renewable energy maintenance contracts, cleaning is one line in a long scope. A scope that counts washes, rather than the energy they recover, can’t tell a good clean from a wasted one.

Soiling is also its own specialism: contaminant chemistry, water hardness, module makers’ cleaning conditions, coatings and soiling measurement. We bring that specialism into the contract your contractor already runs.

We start from the machines and water already on site, and change them only where the numbers say so.

For O&M contractors. If your crews only need the products, order just the products, with the technical and safety data sheets for your HSE file. No service contract is needed. See the range.

For a problem site, or a whole portfolio, call us in alongside your team. Pilots are free on utility-scale and large C&I plants, so you can show the owner measured results before anything in the contract changes. Book a free pilot.

How we plug in

  1. Measure. A soiling assessment and, where it pays, soiling sensors, with the data shared with your O&M team.
  2. Design. Method, interval or trigger, water treatment, equipment and products, written up as your cleaning strategy.
  3. Write the method statement. One per task, in a form that fits your contractor’s HSE system.
  4. Train the crews. On site: dilution, application, brushing, rinsing and dosing, and what the module maker does not allow.
  5. Supply. As the official Southern African distributor of Chemitek, we supply its products with safety data sheets and technical datasheets for the HSE file.
  6. Verify. Results against control strings or soiling data, and a calendar adjusted with your team as the seasons change.

What goes into a method statement

  • the contaminant and the product for it, with dilution and application rate;
  • the equipment and brush type, and the water source and treatment;
  • the module maker’s cleaning conditions: water limits, pressure and temperature;
  • sequence and timing, PPE and the safety data sheet;
  • run-off and environmental conditions;
  • checks and sign-off;
  • timing: the crew’s calendar has to be able to move.

What O&M teams found

These Chemitek case studies were run by each plant’s own O&M team, on the equipment it already used:

  • Vietnam, 330 MW. The O&M team mixed D-Solar Defendor into its cleaning robot’s water, and crews cleaned faster with softer brushes. See the case.
  • Honduras. After a one-month test on three strings, Scatec’s O&M team moved all its cleaning to Solar Wash Protect (Case study: Chemitek (Portugal), with Scatec). See the case.
  • Malaysia, 850 kWp. The TNBES team found the soiling came off faster with Solar Wash Protect and used much less water, and it switched all its cleaning to the product (Case study: Chemitek (Portugal), with TNBES). See the case.
  • India, commercial rooftop. Soleden Power’s O&M team, which cleans the roof by hand, compared a Solar Wash Protect string with a water-cleaned string for a month, then moved all its cleaning operations to the product (Case study: Chemitek (Portugal), with Soleden Power). See the case.

We work the same way: your team keeps the site and the equipment, and we add the measurement, the method and the chemistry.

Common questions

Still have a question?

Ask one of our engineers. Tell us about your plant and we’ll answer it properly.

Send your question

Will RenewChem take over our cleaning contract?

No. We don't replace the O&M contractor. We measure, design, train and supply; your contractor keeps the contract, the crews and responsibility for the site.

Can our crews just buy Chemitek products from you?

Yes. O&M contractors and in-house crews can buy Chemitek products from us on their own, with the technical and safety data sheets and dilution advice. Measurement, method statements and training are there if you want them, not a condition of supply.

Who is responsible for safety on site?

The O&M contractor, under its HSE system and the site's rules. Our method statements and safety data sheets slot into that system, and our engineers follow the site's induction and permits.

Do our crews need new equipment?

Often not. Solar Wash Protect works with manual brushes, rotary brushes, robots and tractors. Where a product needs dosing or a different brush, we specify it.

Can you train our cleaning crews?

Yes. We train crews on site in dilution, application, brushing, rinsing and dosing, and in the module maker's cleaning conditions. The method statement stays with the crew after we leave.

Do you work with robot and tractor cleaning?

Yes. Antistatic Solar Armor 2.0 and D-Solar Defendor are designed to be dosed into robot or tractor water, and Solar Wash Protect works with both. We set the product and dilution for the machine your contractor runs.
